As far as I remember, MoH was turned in around Christmas after David made some adjustments due to things in ToF. The earlier version was turned in quite some time ago. I have no idea where it is in the copy-editing process — although, since this is the third (at least) forum where the Thiesman mistake has been mentioned, I suspect it’s being fixed.

However. The last two books shipped without the book itself on the included CD. It seems like that could be more of the delay. In other words, the production pipeline is a bit longer and crookeder than it appears on the surface.

The email goes on with their standard explanation of why the order was delayed, etc. The last time this happened with an order from Amazon.com was with Torch of Freedom. My guess is Mission of Honor got turned in late and Baen’s printer (Simon & Schuster) are experiencing follow-on delays in printing & binding as result.

I got an email, too. It says July 26 – July 30 for the estimated arrival date. This is the second time this has happened to me for a Weber book. It was bundled into the same order as the two Lee & Miller Liaden books and the hardcover of the last Stieg Larsson book and the paperback of the second book. The date on those didn’t change, and so Amazon will now have to make 4 shipments instead of 2 or 3. Why?

Yes that was from Amazon. If Amazon is delaying the release 3 weeks, they will certainly lose my business.

I noticed that Amazon has a release date of July 13th but Barnes & Noble on-line has a release date of June 22nd.

That ‘s why eARCs are for the impatient who do not care about what they read. They only want it faster. If they could they’d chain Weber to his computer and make him talk (he uses voice software to dictate his books).
