I'm going along with the conspiracy parts here. If I remember correctly, Shan-wei suggested the building site for Tellesberg, and this "monastery stands upon the site of the oldest church in Tellesberg. It dates back literally to within a very few years of the Creation. Indeed, there are some indications that the original church was built on the Day of Creation itself." suggestive maybe?

Directly by wind or water. One wonders what the exact wording was and whether it left any leeway for building your factories directly next to hydroelectric sources and wind farms. But by the time they get that far I'm sure the proscriptions will be being openly defied.

True history of man? That includes a lot more than I was imagining and I hope Weber has those who set that in motion including that plans have been made for the future (while leaving out any specifics for security) because if I knew there were overwhelming evidence out there in space and the Church had been deliberately been set up to prevent preparations, I might be given to despair.

The Proscriptions of Jwo Jeng state that only what is powered directly by wind, muscle, and water are approved by God.

As to the building estimate,I concur with the statement that a wedge shaped building would fit the bill. Also, a certain thickness is to be expected of walls built in the European fashion as I imagine (and the cover art indicates) the world to have its architecture based on. In an equatorial climate zone, the walls would not need thickness and could be thinned to allow more airspace for cooling purposes in the daytime.

Additionally, the use of moss and water common to Japanese rock gardens seems evident in the courtyard, a possible indicator of external culture to that of the church. I am starting to think that Tellesberg is a site where Alexandria might have sent operatives in disguise to maintain the true history of man, and the monastic order which inhabits the site is an offshoot of that.

Narrow but deep. A wedge. The next street over goes away for a block. Of course straight perpendicular streets suggest cartesian coordinates and are therefore proscribed. By the way are there any ideas about the details of the Proscriptions?

Probably just the normal assumptions on makes about some buildings before entering.

As for the end of this snippet, I have a feeling that this monastery has been waiting for somebody like Nimue/Merlin to show, having been told by those who knew about the PICA that somebody with fantastic abilities would be showing up at roughly the time she/he showed up.

Some sort of electro-magnetism forcefield? Or just general absentmindness (hard to imagine of Nimue I know. Still)?

The space inside the outer wall turned out to be larger than Merlin would have estimated

What is interfering with "his" ability to estimate the space?
